Cassettes Making a Comeback in 2022: Why Nostalgia is Driving this Trend

Do you remember the good old days of cassettes? They were a staple in many people's music collections back in the 80s and 90s. Well, it looks like they're making a comeback! According to recent reports, cassette sales have increased by over 250% in the past year. So why is nostalgia driving this trend?

Brief history of cassettes

Cassettes first became popular in the 1960s as a cheaper alternative to vinyl records. They continued to grow in popularity throughout the following decades, becoming the preferred format for music lovers in the 1980s and 1990s. However, cassettes started to decline in the 2000s with the advent of digital music formats like CDs and MP3 downloads.

An engineer created the invention of the cassette tape Lou Ottens he came up with this in 1963 during his time working at Philips corporation when he wanted to figure out a way smaller reel-to -reel tapes (about 5 inches wide) so they would become more accessible among the average consumer.

His idea became reality after developing cellophane strips coated under electromagnetic heads which send sound waves vibration through speakers when triggered by magnets attached onto each side -- making music lovers everywhere happy because now they could take their tape players anywhere!

Why cassettes are making a comeback

There are a few reasons why cassettes are starting to make a comeback. Firstly, they offer a unique listening experience that can't be replicated with digital music. Secondly, many people enjoy the nostalgic feeling they get from listening to music on a cassette. And finally, cassettes are relatively cheap and easy to find. You can often find them at thrift stores or online.

The resurgence of cassettes

Now, over 20 years later, cassettes are starting to make a comeback. In 2020, cassette sales increased by 260% in the United States. This trend is being driven by younger generations who are nostalgic for the format. Cassettes offer a unique listening experience that can't be replicated with digital music. In addition, many people enjoy the warm, fuzzy feeling they get from listening to music on a cassette. It's a reminder of simpler times when life wasn't so hectic.

Where to find a quality cassette player?

Decent cassette players are getting harder to find nowadays since they are complicated mechanical device that only mass production lines can make. Cheaper models are still being produced—you'll find them at your local Walmart, as well on Amazon but all made by the same manufacturers in china so they are lower quality.

The days of finding a high-quality cassette deck at your local retailer are long gone. We could only find two models on Amazon that are pretty good a Sony Portable Player and a Tascam.

In order to find a great cassette player, you have to search on the used market like ebay and craglist they can still be found if you look hard enough! bargain hunters should beware though - they might have problems with their functionality due to age or wear & tear from years ago when these were new technology in stores shelve.
